Default Question for all you Chicago and Cultured Individuals!

I am taking the G-friend downtown to see Les Mis at The Cadillac Palace Theatre on Saturday night. Looking for a good resturaunt around the theatre. I am not very familar with the city but can navigate it when I have to...Metromix is a pain in the a$$ to look for a good place. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Looking for Italian or a Good Steakhouse. Thanks all!

Default Lots of stuff going on...

It depends on how much you want to spend and what she likes to eat.

Personally, Metromix has been a great means to find different places for me.

Default Try something different.

Steakhouses bore me. Italian I can do at home or at a million other restaurants. If you want to try some place that's cutting-edge - with great food, go to Avec on Randolph. Yes it's loud and yes you will have to wait for a table (which you will share with 6 others, but the food is outstanding, the price is more than fair and well, damnit - the food rocks. It's run by Paul Kahan from Blackbird (next door West). Great wine list with affordable food-friendly wines.

I love the place.

Default Scoozi is too far. Try Petterino's or N9NE.

Petterino's is about two blocks east. N9NE is about four blocks west.

Default Sorry - I thought he was going with his wife.

But yeah - the place is LOUD. Loud but fun - you'll make new friends as you eat - it's all good. Go for the pork shoulder - it rules.

But seriously - if you ever get the chance to have an EARLY dinner or a before theatre thing, they open around 3:30. Get there when it opens and you'll have plenty of room and will easily be able to have a conversation. The crowd will start to build just as you are leaving.
