Default Terrible crash at NJ Motorsports Park today in the Grand Am DP/GT practice. Pruett's car destroyed

but he is apparently OK.

Not my picture, but another photogs (we're still in China, arrive at track on Sat).

Here's what a member of our crew wrote:

"With about 5 minutes to go in the first rolex practice, Scott Pruett and and GT Porsche touched approaching the entrance to the pits, spinning Scott into the tires which exploded away leaving him to hit the end of the pit entrance wall, sliced the car in half, Scott rolled down pit lane and came to rest here.

Someone said he was talking and moving.Medical was very slow, clean up crew was lost. Grand Am has now stopped everything until they figure out how to reconfigure the track, repair the wall, can clean up the gas and antifreeze at pit in."

Let's all hope Scott is OK.

What's left of Scott's Daytona Protoype:

Default I guess the good news is that Pruett was apparently talking and moving, and that the impact...

...wasn't 3 feet further forward (!!!!!).

Hope he's OK in the end.

Wonder if it was driver error or new track configuration and perhaps an inherent flaw in the design.

Default They canceled all racing for the rest of the day and the team owners had an emergency meeting

at 5pm last night.

Apparently the track is far from safe or well staffed, from what I heard from more than a few people on different teams.

Waiting on meeting results. Just woke up here in Shanghai.

Default Considering ALL that is racing this weekend, someone told me that track will be

ground up, dug up, grooved, and in general undriveable.

Looks like that is so far a true statement.

I heard the same thing. Should be a learning experience for Thunderbolt.

Default I'm here at the track. They poured new concrete from 6pm-4am, trying to fix the terrible surface

The whole track was peeling up.

I don't recommend anyone waste their time at NJ Motorsports Park. It was about the worst track I've ever been to, honestly.
