Turned out it's the driver's side / side air bag module that sent out an "irregular" voltage.....

Created the fault in the computer and shut down the airbag system. Thought only the module needs to be changed. Nope. Apparently the module is attached to the airbag. So looks like they need to replace the whole asesmbly.
And of course they don't have that in stock. So now the car is at the dealership waiting for the part. Great.
I dunno if I should keep this car after 50k..... right front wheel bearing already replaced last week. Not to mention the engine head replacement about 10k miles ago.

They need to go back to school. The module shouldn't produce voltage at all. It's possible that a module might have a short to ground which could take out a poorly designed control unit, but IMHO, that's reaching a bit. It sounds is if they're doing diagnosis through parts replacement.

He's basically saying the module sent out an abnormal voltage to the computer and since it's a very sensitive device the computer interpreted that as a malfunction and raised the alert and consequently shut down the system.
So you think it's a bunch of BS from him huh? Mmmmm maybe I should grill him a little bit next time I talk to him.....
