I'm coming down to Chicago monday for a day trip to show some relatives the city. What are some things to show them in the downtown area. Is it a good idea to just park outside the city and take the train in? just need some idea on what to do for the day. thanks.

amtrak tickets are expensive so were going to drive down park at the cottage grove station and take the L downtown. its cheaper that way I figure and they can see more of the city that way.
I know there is lots to do downtown. So give me a few things.

just stopped by today with another AWer and it's always a hit.
Millenium Park is a big meh, IMHO.
The Pier, while cheezy, is always good for tourists.
A drive all the way north on LSD and back is always fun...lake view heading north, skyline view heading south.
