Default what are you guys hooking up to use your ipod in your audis?

there seems to be quite a few options, in terms of hardwire, and i-trip.

who here has used i-trip in chicago (downtown and surrounding burbs)? im not looking for CRYSTAL CLEAR sound, more like something relatively cheap and works well. also i rather have something that i can use in a few cars (like rental cars, since i travel alot, not just the S4.

any comments or opinions would be nice...TIA

Default i use . . . .

the iTrip when I travel on business and have my iPod integrated into my Alpine Headunit in my Z. When I had my A4, I ran a blitzsafe adapter to the CD changer location in the trunk - that solution worked well.

The iTrip sounded ok in my A4, much better than in the Z b/c of the stronger antenna.

Default I have the Denison ice>Link: Plus, but...

for your portability needs I would suggest a tape adapter. The sound is much better than the iTrip [I have one as well]. Plus if you get this one that works with GEN3 and GEN4 iPods, you can control the iPod with the tape deck controls. Saw this at Macworld and it worked very well with many different cars.

Just in case you want to hard wire to your Audi:

Default thanks for the info optimus and jeff...

is a hardwire install of the dension ice easy to do? any specific shops capable of doing it?

also in regards to the tape thinga, besides my S4 not too many of any other cars i have been in have tape decks anymore (including rental cars...). plus does the wire coming from the cassette player get the way alot?

hmmm, what to do? my friend let me use his itrip during a run to lunch, and it sounded just fine, but im sure there is better sound to have at. im worried it would suck on long trips, and or in the downtown area with tall building, etc?

which worked great. Not portable though. For now I am using this DLO Transpod in the A6, which works pretty well.

Default The Denison install can be DIY

No cutting required. Just route the cable from the trunk along the lower door trim up to inside the dash and across to where you want the iPod to go.

I have an iPod mount that snaps into my center vents and works very well.

Default I use the blitzsafe...

I also have a belkin FM modulator I use when I'm not in the car...the blitzsafe rocks, the FM modulator sucks...

I hated using the FM mod in my car, which is why I got the blitzsafe...I really like having the FM mod handy for using it with a jukebox at parties and such, but I highly recommend if you use the ipod in the car more than a little to get the blitzsafe...it's worth the $80, and there have been a lot for sale in the classifieds for cheaper lately...

Default Here's how I mount mine...

I don't know if you saw it during the GTG, but it's a pro-fit international mount...it's perfect...
