again, 54k on the clock. what am I missing here? She says she's never had the brakes maintained. I did flush the brake fluid at the beginning of the summer. So, I think I'll just flush the brake fluid and maybe re-bed?

Default What does "suck" mean?

Mushy pedal?

New fluid will tighten it up a tad. Re-bedding might help too.

But yea, you got tons of pad material & i'm sure the rotors are just fine.

Default Pads are hard as a rock? Have you had the car since new...

or is it possible someone replaced the pads with some Pep Boys brand?

Why not throw some good pads in anyway.

Default The VW's run through pads faster in the back then the front...?

I have not looked at the VW's but was just talking with someone last week who also has a VW Jetta. He had commented that VW engineered the braking system in a way that runs through the back pads faster then the fronts, but also helps to reduce nose dive when braking.

This information provided above is only what was relayed to me; however it was from someone who appeared to know his car very well.

Default Yep. I replaced wife's rear pads on Passat at 55k, fronts are fine

On Passats at least, the rear pads are way smaller than the fronts and so they go faster.

Strangely I had the some experience on her Accords (2 of them). Go figure.

Yep, both F and R were OEM pads... (rears much more brake dust than fronts)
