As an alternative to outright banning, or defense against extreme idiotic posting behaviours, how about a penalty box. Give all mods (even the n00b ones) the ability to hand out 15, 30 or 60 minute penalties. Their UID is shunted to a visible holding area and they can't post until time's up. Also, as a nod to the fact that users are as important as mods, give the rest of us the ability to lay down comments there for anyone in the box.

Cars when sold do not come with people. It's the folks who post on AW who make it what it is. typical corporate change (moderators, layout etc) doesn't sound like a good thing. If it isn't and it drives the posters away, the soul goes with it.
it's like selling the car and removing it's turbo or super-charger. That would be a bit daft. Unless the new owner upgardes the turbo. Can't see a corporation doing that.

Either way...
If the new folks bought it outright from Jet and folks, its theirs to do with as they please, no matter what the previous owners might wish for. Not saying it would be a wise decision, but its now out of Jet's hands.
If the new owners are smart, they've been reading up on the thread like this to see the devout following this site has, the passion over the software even! I also don't know of too many sites that have had members as long standing as this one. I've been on here since 2000.

instead of having to "reset password" to get join date, why not just have it in...
the persons account info?
Its not like its really a private thing, you can roughly figure it out using AID# but a date would be cool.

i joined AW b/c i bought an audi i stayed because i found AWOT
even though i like the WW i dont want to see awot flooded with ****. there are a thousand sites dedicated to that and i don't want to have to dig thru it.
