Kris Hansen: Here's a very simple question...

The threaded view also only works when people reply in the subject line. Noobs always missed that, got chided, and fixed it. The same would happen with a threaded view on vBulletin: people who didn't follow it would be corrected right away and we'd be fine.

There isn't.
Since "regular" view is linear, with any number of places to click for reply, there is no control. At least with threaded view, only one post at a time is visible, so replies are targeted.

This is an improvment over KAWF, proving that if IB had taken the time to customize the software for this forum they would have been better received.
Is it too late? Maybe not. If they plan to try to cater to the old guard, they need to get a plan together quickly and provide some solid communication. If the plan going forward is to hope we get used to it, the site will lose much of its current base. Rebuilding will probably occur, but not for a long time.

I agree. The reason most had stuck to AW instead of going to a vB type forum is because of the forum software. Once that was switched to vB without any customization to make it work like KAWF, there was no reason for many members to stick around. Hoping that we'll get used to it will result in very few of the members coming back. I'm sticking around for now as I think they are trying to figure out how to fix this. When it becomes eveident to me that they are not, I'm done.

I wouldn't say they know they made a mistake, but they know the commuinty is ripped to shreds right now..
They will not run the JE piece, because they want to be able to streamline future upgrades in the software. Not possible with a huge hack on this site.

Kris, thank you for all you did over the years to help me and the community with this forum it was a regular part of every day life for many years for me. I only posted a little over 1600 times, but felt at home here with my virtual friends and fellow enthusiast.
However, regardless of what IB decides I won't be coming back to this site on a regular basis as long as they own it. If they were to make a change for the positive what's to stop them from taking us down a dark path again in the future. They have clearly established theri opinion of our wishes.
Best wishes Kris
