Default Too much Javascript, too many images?

I've noticed that over the modem, AudiWorld takes a long time to load the first time each day.
In particular, it would appear that my browser (Navigator 4.7 on NT) is not caching all the images, so that each time I restart Netscape and go to this site, it has to download all the images all over again.

I suspect this is due to overuse of Javascript, but I confess that I don't fully understand why this is happening.

The problem is compounded by the use of images for things that could be better served as text -- all the buttons/menu across the top and the list of sections along the left side, for example.

Text is fast. Text is universal. Don't overdo it!

Just MHO, of course. If I can help figure out the caching problem, let me know what I can do.
