Default Cam adjustment seal?

Took the Avant in for the 30K service and was told that the tech found an oil leak around the cam adjustment seal. I've never heard of such an animal. Anybody know more about it?

Default Sorry, it only works on 2000 tips...

Up until the DBW cars came out in 2000 the ECUs were interchangeable. That's no longer the case. DBW ECU's only work with DBW cars.

Default Rumor has it that there is life on Mars too... :P

I'll bring my VAG-COM and show you what happens when I come down for the clear corners.

How about I trade you...your APR for my MTM. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Default Did they say which cam seal was leaking?

Bentley shows the exhaust cam with just the oil seal.

The intake cam has an oil seal, then a shutter wheel for the camshaft position sensor, a washer and bolt, then the sensor itself.
No mention of "cam adjustment seal"
Maybe local dealer slang?

Removed bumper cover, loosen lock carrier, remove cams and adjuster. Removed and replaced cam adjuster seal reassembled. Vehicle operating to factory specs.

Part # 058-198-025-A Gasket set
Part # 059-198-217 Gasket set

Labor = 4.70 hours</i>

Default I see it

In the rear of the cyl head, one seal is a rubber half round, and the other is the seal around the cam adjuster, where it comes through the head.
On the work order, I suppose one gasket set is for the valve cover, and the other is those seals.

Default Thanks, sounds like a pain in the ****...

I'm glad it's still under warranty. I cringe at the thought of losing my warranty coverage in Febuary. I guess I need to start saving my pennies for an extended warranty.
