Default No, Grand Scam's goal is to run ALMS out. Nascar wants no competition. Divide road racing...

and conquer. Slick marketing calling the Daytona 500 the "Great American Race". Wasn't long ago that the Indy 500 was the big American race. But with IRL(Nascar owned)and CART dividing the open wheel, both series are weak. Nascar is the 800 lb gorilla and the rest of the racing series have to eat the table scraps.

Default No doubt, but do you think GAC...

...just disappears if ALMS is killed off? Nascar wants to make money and there is huge potential in any kind of American road racing. I read that Nascar is quite interested in the demographic and avg. income of a GAC fan.

Nascar and road racing can co-exist. It would even appear that ALMS and GAC can co-exist. I'm a little concerned about WC right now though, there's a few teams jumping ship to GAC.

Default There's also a game called GTR or something like that.

Supposed to be unbelieveable and easy to customize.

Default If ALMS and CART goes away, then Nascar wins. No competition. They own Nascar, IRL and Grand Am....

Coexistence of other series provided Nascar owns them.

Default Unfortunately we're in the minority

Remember the NATCC? Not many people do...maybe because it lasted 15 min. It amazes me how popular Nascar is, considering how damn boring it is. Speaks volumes as to the current state of the average American 'race fan'....f-ing scary. Nascar will be the death of modern roadracing as you and I know it.

I'd love the return of the NATCC or something similar to the current BTCC.

Default Different league, same concept

Original NATCC was started in the mid 90s and lasted one season (or maybe two). I remember seeing pictures of Chrysler's mothballed Stratus touring cars....what a waste. USTCC looks cool, more grass roots. Hope it lasts.

http://www.ustcc.com/</a
