What are the common bands the law enforcement in Florida use? So far this thing is picking up everything from alarms to door sensors to other peoples with radar dectectors. No cops with their radar on yet.

From the number of times it takes before you get a steady signal, to the length of the detection. You'll get used to it.
Congratulations!

I have an 8500 so I have no idea how to do it, but I get almost no false alarms so when it goes off I know its for real.. :-)

until he pushes the button. I was asking him if I should get a V1, and he said most cops wait until they see a car moving faster than the pack (like a blue S4 with CH's) and then they hit the button and its too late. I asked him about the range, and he said that if he can see you he can get a speed. He also said that cops dont have to have radar to write a speeding ticket. Its just there for verification of their estimation.
Moral of story: Hide in the pack and be smart about it.
