Default Wow. USAA raised my rates.

They ran my DL history recently, it sez:
Michael 04-21-2004 Reckless driving

Oops. Went from $30 a month to $90ish. Ouch.

Default wreckless....insurance companies usually panic when they see that.

Isnt that a typical plea down for a DUI? If so, that is why they are reacting so drastically....

Default Hmmm...

I thought the typical plea down for DUI in FL is Reckless (Alcohol Related)

Not sure how that appears on the D/L report...and not sure if the difference matters much to insurance.

I hear they love to see "racing" on the D/L, too.

Default What's the difference between "wreckless" and "careless"?

Wreckless is without a wreck, right? What's wrong with that?!

Default In Florida...

In terms of penalties, IIRC reckless driving can be punished with incarceration. Not so with careless driving.

In terms of behavior...well, reckless driving is worse than careless driving. What does that mean? Like pornography, it's hard to say, but you know it when you see it. Obviously there are a variety of factors all boiling down to a gut feel that influenced by Officer DiscretionTM, Prosecutorial DiscretionTM, Judicial DiscretionTM and Jury DiscretionTM.

For example, there was a previous thread that described a speeding ticket with a clocked speed of ~135MPH. That would certainly be speeding, but it could be careless driving or reckless driving, too.
