Default Or $20k for Camaro + $10k of mods - Spanking the HPA R32 = It's still a Chevy and VW.

Yes, it could probably beat a Gallardo in a straight line, but I would much rather have a Gallardo over a HPA R32.

It's all relative... If I owned an exotic I wouldn't care if I got beat by one. I'd enjoy the race but I would still have the nicer car.

Default Well the R32 and HPA's kit would surely be less than $60k total.

And the R32 set a 71 mph slalom speed, and the fastest ever 0-30 mph time of 1.01 seconds. The brakes are insane too (stock with drilled rotors). I dont think you could touch a Gallardo for $60k, and comparing VW to Chevy is a bit of a stretch. Hell, a GLI has a nicer interior than a $50k Z06.

No matter what you do to the Camaro, it will never handle like the AWD R32, and it probably wont stop as good either.

Granted, any exotic has more chic appeal, but the type of person doing something like this doesnt care about that, or more likely already has plenty of chick magnet cars in the garage.

For money, looks, power, and all around handling... the Z06 is tough to beat. IMO

Default Well the price I have heard throught around $20k plus installation. So it's not cheap.

The point I'm making is the 'priceless' remark you made about a TT R32 beating an exotic. Yeah thats great but its still a Golf. Just like a 600HP LS1 is still just a Camaro, that was my point.

You are comparing a R32 to an exotic, isn't that just as much of a stretch? You can make the Camaro handle better. I know I rag on them all the time too, but dollar per dollar a Camaro is going to handle better than a R32.

Outside of a drag race, the exotic is going to get the nod. It might be as fast as a Zonda in a 1/4mi but don't think for a second that it's going to be able to pull lap times as quick as one. A Golf was never designed to do sustained 100mph+ driving, an exotic usually is.

I could spend $50k on a Radical or Formula Mazda and be able to lap any production based car. So does that make that priceless too?

There are more to cars than just statistics.

Default Everything I said was in the sense of bang for buck in an overall package.

You can make the Camaro handle better than what? A Hummer? yeah I suppose you could with better tires, and suspension, but it's never going to touch the R32 in the handling department (or just about any other awd car). I am not comparing the R32 to an exotic, (give me some credit) I am saying for the lucky SOB that already has a few exotics this would be a fun sleeper. Sure, an EB110 or XJ220 is MUCH sexier, but can you own/operate one for the same expense? Again, 0-60 in 3.2, 1/4 mile in 11.4@120 and the slalom at 71 aint half bad for ~$60k- especially since it comes in such a low-key cheap-to-insure package.

Default "but dollar per dollar a Camaro is going to handle better than a R32."

yeah Ross, you need rehab. Live rear axle, heavy *** V8, flexi flyer chassis, and a terrible weight bias do not make for a great handling platform. They are hard to beat for 1/4 mile bragging rights, but come on- handling?

Besides you probably have around $50k+ (just guessing) in your car and mods. Will it touch any of the numbers posted above? THATs my point. The R32 doesnt look as good as your car IMO (dont like hatches), but from a pure performance perspective I think the HPA package is a good deal. Don't even mention comparative resale values on modded german cars. They both would suck but I think something modded in the fashion that HPA does would fare better than an individual bolting on parts.
