From what I know the differences between the 3B and AAN is 3B that has a distributor ignition system, the intake manifolds are different, and exhaust manifold and downpipe are different?
Are there any mechanical differences in the engine itself? ((lifters, cams, valves, rods, pistons, wrist pins etc..?))

blocks are different as the AAN has some different mounting bosses. The 3B uses V-belts vs. the AAN's serp. belt setup so the crank pulleys are different. The FW's are different too the AAN uses a dual mass FW and the 3B uses single plate light weight FW. Pistons, lifters, valves are all the same. I think the rods are different. Oil pans are different too. Exhaust manifolds are the same. DP's are different in that the AAN has 3 bolt flanges and the 3B has 4 bolt flanges at the cats.
