Default Good law, but enforcing it just creates ANOTHER high risk situation for the officer.

I think it's a good idea, but do we really want police to pull people over for this? That puts them AGAIN in harm's way explaining and issuing a citation as traffic whizzes by.

Wasn't sure it was a law but always try to move over as a courtesy. That sucks dude.

Default I literally just heard this story verbatim from an office-mate. Was this you?

If so, are you with McGuire Woods? The story sounds LITERALLY the same.

Default Hmm. The law (yes I actually read the link b4 posting) says 'at least 4 lanes'.

The other day, I was on a 2-lane road that was backed up due to a traffic stop on the near shoulder. Both lanes of traffic were alternating the far lane instead of using both lanes, even though the pulled-over car and officer's vehicle were fully in the shoulder and in no danger of being hit. I was the only one that stayed in my lane (just half-lane move) when passing the incident.

Default It's typical of many traffic laws that are on the books. They're not designed for safety

They're designed to generate revenue.

Default Solution... Don't drive in VA.

VA tickets are supposed to be the harshest around so I just do my best to never cross the border.
