Default The 2009 MTBing season is officially open. What great timing...

I finished my new build on Friday and then had a glorious weekend for test and tune. I am pronouncing my MTBing season open for business. I hope to see some of you out there this year - I got to know a few of you not through audi meets/drives/parties or whatever but through biking. This is fine with me. We can check out each other cars in the Park and Ride at the Patapsco trail head.

My new bike is bad ***. I'm loving it. Its like getting a new car - feels so tight and new. No rattles, no slop in the suspension or shifting.

I'm still getting used to the new bike but I will be ready to burn up some trails before warm weather gets here.

Anyone else getting motivated for some biking this season?? Air-21(still around?)? Absolut? (want a city bike still?) SilverA4fun? The Chad?

First ride in its natural habitat:

Mmmmmmm...carbon fiber goodness:

Default I took my hardtail out to Patapsco today.

Its kind of a "heavy duty" hardtail, set up with a 140mm fork with 20mm thru axle, 203/183 rotors with 4 pot new Shimano Saint brakes. Was a great ride, first time out on it and loved it

Pictures are before I finished up installing the brakes, trimmed the hose and installed the grips

Default I really want to get out, but am way outta shape and the bike needs a tune up.

But yes, I def need to get out there on a more regular basis again...last year was terrible.

I should throw some money at the bike, including a front fork, new rotors/pads, and a major overhaul/tune-up (which I'll prolly have an LBS do for me).

Default I know nothing about bikes, so this might be a dumb Q, but if you have rotor/calliper brakes

both front and back, why are the regular brakes still installed on the front fork?

Look closer... It's part of the fork.

Default there are no rim brakes on the fork
