Default Advice Needed: Stupid Toyota driver strikes again, only this time literally

Driving back home through Rockville. I'm on Wootton Parkway. I stop in the left lane at the red light at Wootton Parkway and Preserve Parkway (where Clyde's is). Idiot in the white GX470 stops in the left turn only lane next to me. Maybe it's not the GX470, it's whatever the Toyota Prado is that is rebadged as a Lexus. It's not the Land Cruiser and it's not the RX330, it's whatever is in between those two.

Light turns green, I begin to drive off normally. Idiot in the Lexus begins to drive off normally too, only the idiot decides that he wants to go straight. About halfway through the intersection, I notice that the idiot isn't turning left, and is real close to my left-rear quarter panel. I'm not even out of first gear at this point. Idiot isn't trying to out-accelerate me either. He drove off slower than I did as evidenced by the fact that I was about 3/4 of a car length in front of him.

Anyway, I realize the idiot isn't turning. I'm still in first gear, so I just gun it to get out of the idiot's way. I notice that idiot has scrubbed the curb with his left front wheel. This is the median that divides the east bound and west bound traffic on Wootton Parkway. Had he gone left like he was supposed to, that median wouldn't have been an issue. I know he scrubbed the curb because I saw his driver's side front end take a small dip and I heard a split second of tire screech. My windows were open since it was a nice night out.

So, idiot gets in behind me, then high beams me. We make a left onto Tower Oaks Boulevard and he continues to high beam me. I'm wondering what I've done to **** off this idiot. I recount when I first encountered the idiot, which was at the intersection of 355 and Wootton Parkway. So, we've driven about a mile before this incident occurred. He keeps his high beams on as we go down Tower Oaks and I'm resigned to the fact that he's just an idiot Toyota driver. After all, the largest percentage of idiots I encounter on the roads are in Toyotas. No offense to Ed and his Tercel or Marvin and his IS350.

I get down Tower Oaks, I make the right onto Montrose, then take 270 South. I never see the idiot again.

I get home and notice that my left rear quarter panel and bumper cover are scuffed with white paint. Hmmm, interesting that the idiot Lexus was real close to my left rear quarter panel and that his SUV was white. Mind you, I never felt any sort of impact whatsoever. Not a hint of any movement in my car. But I know for a fact that the white paint was not there before. I know this because I filled up gas at Exxon in Olney, so I opened/closed the fuel door and was standing right by the left-rear quarter panel as the car was filling up.

I don't see any visible body damage. Part of me doesn't care as this is my Civic and it's a beater car. But at the same time, I'm livid that he was such an idiot and that he actually left paint on my car.

I'm tempted to call the Maryland State Police to summon the two red light cameras at Wootton Parkway and Edmonston Drive (it intersects Wootton twice and at each intersection there is a light and a red light camera). I want to summon the cameras so I can get this douchebag's license plate and call the cops on him. WTF? Left-turn only lane means you turn left, it doesn't mean drive into my car in the next lane over, then put your high beams on me, as though I've done something wrong to you.

Do I leave it be or do I call the cops on principle? I don't see any body damage, and the white paint looks like it will buff right out. Thoughts? Yes, I know, the car's dirty...

People wonder why I can't stand Toyota drivers.

Default Not to take the Toyota's side...but perhaps he realized he hit you and was getting your attention...

to get you to pull over. Highly unlikely, but possible.

But try to find him and get your car fixed!

Default sorry to hear. My thought on the red light camera is that he

didnt run a red light so how will you get a record of it?

Otherwise Id say go for it.

What pisses me off is that people think they are the bomb because they drive a lexus SUV. Probably a realtor. I'll stop now.

Default I don't think he was intelligent enough to think about trying to pull me over

Had he had an ounce of intelligence, he wouldn't have driven straight from a left-turn only lane.

One caveat. Once we turned left on Tower Oaks, we were both in the right lane. I caught up to a car and switched to the left lane. He stayed behind that car and turned off his high beams, which indicates to me that his intent was nothing short or malicious.

Default The red light cameras stay on for the entire duration that the light is red

Maryland red light cameras set off the laser on my V1. The laser warning remains on until the light turns green, then it goes off.

I'm not sure it's worth pursuing considering there's no real damage to the car. I'm 95% certain that I can take a rag and wipe off the white paint and there be nary a hint of body damage.

Default I have a Tacoma also.... tho I switch to surf bum mode when ever I belt -in

Words <to ?something?> wise: It's usually inaccurate to generalize a group's driving behavior pattern, solely based on their brand selection...

Now... ethnic backgrounds? THAT's totally different! Darn AZN drivers!!!

signed -- an AZN driver >-P
