Anybody use Erie for Auto Insurance? I just called them and was not happy with the result...

So because someone in my household who wouldn't even be put on my policy (my brother) had a speeding ticket within the last 3 years that was for 20+ mph over the speed limit, they won't give me a policy with them. Well, there's just another reason Sperry needs to move out soon.

Unfortunately they do have a few nuances, like the one you ran into.
Try calling another Erie Agent next week, tell them your brother moved out.

If you have a policy with Erie, they will normally drop anyone if you've been in an accident or if you have had more than one speeding ticket. The only write really good drivers(ones without anything on their record).
As with most insurance companies, you are required to list all memebers of your household, who are capable of driving. It doesn't matter if they drive your car or not, the insurance company should be notified. But by doing this, you will increase your premiums because it adds risk. I'm sure you already knew this stuff, but just in case.
I currently have Erie and I do not pay alot, but will probably shop around come the new year.

They will write you if you have one ticket only, < 20mph over the limit, and no accidents on record.
In the event that you have an accident AFTER they've written you, they increase your rates 30%, starting 1 year after your incident, and those rates hold for 2 years, then back to your original rates.
Pretty sweet deal even if you have an at-fault while with them.

I guess because they did write me w/ a 19mph over ticket on record (close!).
That's still small coin to pay considering I could have easily been dropped and no one I know of can touch their rates to within a few hundred dollars.
