My wife asked me what I want for Christmas, and since a new Lotus was out of the question, I said a good battery powered impact wrench for changing wheels at the track. Anyone have any brands, models, etc to recommend?

Three years ago, I got the Goodyear cordless impact from Pep Boys for $69. They are now selling the same basic one for under the GreatNeck name for a regular price of $89. This is a picture of the Black Friday add this year for $69.
People rave about the Snap-On brand cordless impact for $350.
But, as long as your wheel lugs are properly torqued, the cheap Pep Boys impact wrench can take them off. I've never had a lug nut that I torqued myself be unremovable by the Pep Boys cheapy. But, there is no doubt that a good wrench will put out at least 350 lb-feet, whereas you'll be luck to get 150 lb-feet from Pep Boys.
OK, so why skimp on this.... The answer is the battery. A replacement battery for the expensive impacts can run $130 or so. The batteries last on the order of 4 or 5 years. When I need a new battery for my cheap impact wrench, I can just buy a whole new wrench from Pep Boys when its on sale for $79.
So, it's up to you, but I'd go cheap, and spend the saved money on something else, like an aluminum jack, torque wrench, jacks stands, brake caliper compression tool, brake bleeder, etc.
