Default

probably just pad deposits. just re-bed and you'll probably be fine.

Default I just replied to that thread re: Pagid Orange

I can't believe you had an issue with them on the track.

Default Jim - I tried your procedure for touching up the rotors last night

and when I pulled the wheels, I didn't see any significant "stamping" like the pictures you posted yesterday. I went ahead and lightly scrubbed the rotors, but didn't get a chance to properly bed. I've still got a slight vibe under hard braking, so hopefully all I need to do now is "properly" bed in.

I may try this later tonight.

Default Will do. Sport Compact Car, June 2006, Volume 18 NO. 6.

The cover story is:
The Truth, Tuning Myths Busted Wide Open.

Page #62 Myth #8:
Bigger Brakes Make Your Car Stop Better

I can't scan it well enough to read. I'll try again Wednesday.

Default Rob, Sorry to hear that. My Stoptechs are not doing too well either.

If there are pad deposits on the rotors and then the car is run hard on the track, those uneven deposits can get baked onto the rotors. The rotors can then get unevenly heated at the track, which causes an uneven surface. (I was on the phone with Stoptech for 20 minutes today).

Anyway, good luck.

Default I had pad deposits from a couple days at Summit

a few weeks back. I was running Hawk HPS pads. I tried re-bedding and sanding with a emory pad on an orbital sander with no luck. I found the article below on the Stoptech site and since I knew I would be doing more track days, bought a set of the Hawk Blues. I did 2 sets of 60-30 stops with the Hawk Blues and the rotors shined like new. I just put the HPS pads back on, bedded them in, and took it for a test drive - no shakes at all.

http://stoptek.com/tech_info/wp_padremoval.shtml</a
