Default Start with 1 or 4 since they are closest to the radiator

Sounds like it's one bank of cylinders mostly, probably #4 since it's the closest to the radiator and gets more heat. I'd replace that first, then re-VAG to see if you're still misfiring.

I had that exact problem on my car back in August. Cylinder #4 was misfiring, and #5 and #6 were also misfiring. I ended up replacing all six coil packs though.

Default the misfire codes are not exact

There is only 1 sensor per bank, it tries to figure out which cylinder is misfiring based on the timing, but very often if the misfires are pretty bad it will get confused like this.

Default Maybe move a coilpack or two, see if the misfires follow...

...neighbor had 4 cylinder misfires...turned out to be two bad coils. Just a BTDT.

Although it does sound more like plugs (maybe plug wires).

Default I would start with plugs. I had a similar problem with two cylinders misfiring...

only on full throtle in performance mode on higher gear. It turned out to be the plugs were going bad.
