Default The decision is made for my track car selection....the winner is....E36 M3!

After a test drive weekend I came to the conclusion that the E36 M3 is the car that siuts me
I testdrove two 944s, garage pristine version and track prepped version, which I like but that car has a really restricted visibility and due to the low power feels a little heavy comparing to the M3. I testdrove a 924T as well which really goes from ~2500 rpm (turbo kicks in) but steering sucks (torque steering) and has much more vibrations than the 944. Overall the 944 is a great car but the M3 has better visibility a little bit lighter but still tight steering and the best part.....OMG...power, power and more power. From 1st through 4th the torque availability is unbelieveable. It pulls across the whole power range.
So, in my hubmle opinion the M3 wins and it is my choice for a track car.

Thanks to everybody's advice and shared experience guiding me to my final choice!

I think you made the right choice, but that's just me.

Default Welcome to the dark side.. lol

It's a great all around car and does well for track duty too.

Default Consider yourself SHUNNED! :P

J/K. Congrats! You'll be surprised you'll feel on the track in a car that is in a sense "disposable" versus the one that's gotta take you to work on Monday.

Your first mods should be roll bar and harnesses, then brakes, then suspension. (The go fast goodies are the most tempting but the least useful on the track.)

2nd. Track it once to see what it needs, but I'm guessing suspension bits will be 1st up.

Default 3rd. Low power? I had the valet setting engaged!!! If you wanted power....

...

I'm glad you drove the M3. I had a sense that you were going to be bewildered by the range of options out there for 944s. The purchase price is meaningless. The real price is the level of liabilities you will be assuming in the future!

See you at the track. Now that you have BIG HORSEPOWER, you're certainly going to have to run circles around us low power guys!!! ;-)

Sounds like a good decision and one not made without research first. Will be much fun on the track.
