The wife said no, but I'm still working it. Alpine Motorsports Club is being built just 3 hours north in PA; 4.2 miles long, 220 ft elevation change and 9 possible configurations would keep me from getting bored anytime soon. Looks like it will be a great facility when it is done and it will be closer than VIR. What do you guys and gals think?

http://www.alpinesignature.com/index.html</a

I guess I can see how doing about 70 sessions it would pay for it self but 5k annual fees as well? I know there are is a lot of money in the surrounding DC Metro area but I see this place switching to something like VIR in 5 or so years.

Let them build it, THEN I'll come. Of course, there's still no way I'm putting $40,000 into a black hole in Pennsylvania.
I guess they picked PA due to proximity to multiple populations, but it's also going to be largely shut down for 4 months out of each year.

$35K for initiation and $3K per year.
The rules are similar to any other social/country club, only it's with cars instead of golf or tennis. Initiation fees for Congressional and Burning Tree are well over $100K (if you can even get invited) and I think even Belle Haven CC, near my house, is around $70K for initiation. The initiation fee is generally refunded upon the sale of your membership if/when you leave.
I don't personally like the thought of joining a country club since I don't like playing the same course more than a couple times a year. But I could see doing it for a track that has multiple configurations. And if it was close enough? Hell yeah.
