David Greggory Restau/Lounge and Equinox (friend works there). Excellent food at both places.

Some of the places (like Teatro Goldoni, which is now on my **** list) only have 1 or 2 lame items on the restaurant week menu. Look for places that have a good selection. One dinner recommendation - Morrison Clark Inn. Old school atmosphere, but great food.

I haven't stumbled across a place to avoid during RW yet, but some places are definitely better than others. A number of restaurants don't put their best dishes on the fixed-price menu. For example, we hit Red Sage during the last RW, and the best sounding entree and the best sounding dessert weren't available. I got stuck with some lame pasta and some kind of crappy mousse for dessert.
Just about the only restaurants I've found that offer everything (albeit some items at a modest additional charge) are DC Coast, TenPenh, and Ceiba. Of the three, TenPenh is by far my favorite. You have a choice of a couple of appetizers (including the fantastic spring rolls), any entree (some, like the steak or lobster, are extra), and a few desserts (bearing in mind that I wouldn't ordinarily get dessert at TenPenh, since it isn't anything special).
BTW, this is a much better deal for dinner than for lunch. Who has a three-course lunch?
