No idea about doing it on the 4th. But Sandy and I have done the cruise once and it was a lot of fun

I was on a boat out of Old Town Alexandria that got stopped in the river due to a fireworks show late in the summer. It was really cool. The fireworks were fired off of a barge I guess. The funny thing was that they kept landing planes at Reagan airport. The fireworks would periodically stop for a few minutes, a jet would fly though, and then the fireworks would start up again. This happened about three times.

As far Independence Day goes, you wouldn't want/need to be on the boat until the sun goes down. Most cruises on the Potomac are only a couple of hours long, not all-day.

Seeing the fireworks from the boat were cool, but truthfully you can watch them from anywhere. I'm not sure it would be worth being on a boat all day.

Default No. But my drummer played on the Spirit of Washington for 5 years.

Thus, his opinions of the cruises are pretty low.

I keep telling him to write a book. Some of his stories are great.

Default Yes, we had fun...when we went the "2nd" time b/c we missed the boat the first time around..

Carey got the time wrong and rescheduled cause I was "his wife and having a baby."

Default I've been on the "Spirit" cruise once - wasn't too bad.

But I doubt I'd go again.

Default Odyssey is nice...

for that special someone on a special day. I usually catch the local fireworks in Maryland. I've been to the World Fireworks Competition in Montreal 2X already so pretty much seen it all. BTW, if you ever visit up there, I highly recommend it. The countries really put on a show.
