Hello from Chicago. Buying a car in PA on Saturday, but there seems to be a problem with title...

when we bought cars when I was younger (and living in PA)
we would just stick an old plate on the car and drive it back to register it. Did it with my brother's CQ (bought in Jersey) and just used an old plate with current registration as to not raise any eyebrows, and the buyer of the car did the same thing. Key thing is to have insurance on the car... other than that, you're going home to register the car...
Might not be the most "legal" thing, but by far the easiest. If I didn't have to tow the 4000 up to VA Beach from Durham, I would have done the same thing.

I'm thinking the same thing...
2 years ago I bought my CQ in NJ, drove back with some paper plates - no issues. I have one spare plate from my CQ now so I was thinking to bring that if its really a hassle to get a temp one on Saturday. Insurance I'll have, that's a no brainer.

Most states there's a place on the title for current owner to sign it over to you then...
You just take it back to your home state and have them issue a new one.
If the seller owes on the car and needs the sale $$$ to pay off a loan, I'd set it up that you both sign a purchase and sale agreement and YOU have a cashiers check for the loan payoff made out to the loan company. Then you both go down to Fedex and send the P&S and check to the loan company with instructions to send you the title.
