I usually go west on 66 in the morning, but had to head to georgetown this morning, and trie dto take 66 east alone. Cops are on the glebe ramp, stop me before i can even get on the road and issue me an HOV violation..
should i go to court June 10th or just pay it? It seems like an awful lot of money for ignorance, as opposed to negligence, especially considering it didn't endanger anyone in any way... It says i'm innocent till proven guilty on the back of the ticket. Which, i assume, places the burden of proof on the ticketing officer, which would require him to make his way to court that day.

just go to court, and hopefully they'll cut you some kind of slack.
You gonna play? You gotta pay.
No big deal - they were just doing their jobs.

the cops are there every morning.
I did that once...got on 66 in DC going westbound HOV. Passed a cop, but didn't catch me. Maybe he saw my NJ plates and he just let me go.
