Adam, if you plan on doing the clutch in the near future, DO IT NOW!!!
The labor will be less than an hour with the motor pulled. It will be about 12 hours doing it from scratch.
I know money is tight, and you can't afford it now. But really, you can't afford not to do it now!! Scrape, scrape scrape. Get that money together some how. After you pull the motor, you're not going to be in any mood to do it in the spring/summer.
Come on man, you can find a way to get the funds now. That's what credit cards are for.

No you don't.
Assuming you've been nice to it and there isn't significant wear, justs scuff the surface prior to re installation.
On a similar note: I've seen a few 6-speed A6s not that have had the flywheel damper fail (it literally welds itself together...it has some crazy dual-mass system)...and a new one is about a grand. :/

Nah, I was thinking about doing the clutch later....much later. However, that doesn't seem to be
a good idea. No one gets Christmas presents this year. Do you think my mom will still be enamored with a paper plate with macaroni glued to it?

Definitely doing the K04s...and as long as they're going in, I might as well take full advantage of
them. However, I can't do everything I need to do all at once, though. So it will be a bit of a frankenstein build. The final result should be good. Hopefully, it will be happy by VIR in April.

More dampening... stock disc is not sprung, so they have springs in the flywheel...
In my case my lightweight aluminum flywheel is not dual-mass (i.e. sprung) so the actual clutch is dual-mass...
In general, for streetable cars you want 1 of the 2 to be dual-mass...
