Default ah, ok, then MD is WAY better.

fight it in court. if nothing else, you could probably get the fine reduced if you tell the judge you had some stomach problems.

Default speaking from 1st hand experience in both states....

VA:
anything > 30mph over the limit = reckless
anything > 80mph, regardless of limit = reckless

MD: Both of the above statements are false. I was written up for 88/55 one morning, and there was no reckless charge. I'm not sure when reckless kicks in, or if it is a seperate citation....can't remember now.

Default In MD, Reckless is 8 or 10 points (8, I think). 20+ is five points but not considered reckless...

However, if you just pay the fine, you'll have 5 points on your license and have to attend some driver course or something (If you get over 4 points on your licence in a 2 year period you need to go to that).

I got 93 in a 65 which was a 5 point violation but got it reduced to a 2 point violation in court. Had a clean record for 5 years.
