a stiff headwind, and grandma doing 45mph would be out running ya! :-)
during one of my cross country flight while as a student pilot in a Cessna 152, a stiff head wind caused my ground speed to be slower than cars on the hwy. (not *A*cross country, just from 1 airport to another >50 mi away)
Actually better (longer term) solution I think is better driver's education curriculum in high school, and much stricter driver's license examine criteria standard. But you'll have a lot of yodels writing their congressmen/women complaining their right to THE American way is endangered. I heard high school driver's ed doesn't even exist now, or they don't even go out on the road driving w/ instructors? </rant>

Beltway South of 66, north of Braddock. Used to go across all lanes, but
since they repaved it, they haven't repainted the lines. However, they still have lines in the shoulders, so technically the can still try and time you.
