Looking for a cheap sub box for my dual 10" subs, is band-pass better then standard box?

Bandpass=loose, muddy, loud. Sealed=tight, crisp, less loud. Ported=seales/bandpass hybrid.

Default I'm not adding a huge amp, just enough to get some decent lows in the music

To me it's not about the volume as it is about sound, just like home speakers with larger speakers sound better, so does a car system with 10" woofers instead of puny 5" woofers.

Default Looks like we have a consensus then, sealed box it is

I just need to find one that protects the speakers or at least get some grills.

For the Passat or the A4? Make a custom enclosure for the side.

Nah, securing it. Meaning you don't want to have it jumping up and down like it does in my Jeep GC.

Default Passat. I'm gonna reuse the subs and amp from the A4 but the current enclosure is trashed.

The A4 is going on a diet.
