Maryland emissions inspection question.

Maryland emissions inspection question.
My check engine light on my 2001 S4 has come on a couple of times due to "Warm up catalyst Bank 1: Efficiency below threshold, intermittent." The light stays on for a day or two and then goes out for a few months. I just received a notice for the emissions inspection.
Will the emissions inspection pick up on this, causing me to fail the test, even if the CEL is not illuminated?

Possibly...it never hurts to take the test and try; retest runs are free...
If they do fail you, just meet up with someone who has a Vag-Com beforehand...it will stay clear until you can get retested.
Where in MD are you located?

Oh, cool...I'm often down in Lothian.
And I had a girlfriend in high school in Friendship.
If you can't find someone w/ a Vag-Com, we might be able to meet up sometime. Check the 'Locator' in my signature for someone/anyone near you.

Have they just done the OBDII test in the past? Or treadmill?
If VEIP is just scanning the car and you have a VAG-COM, go to Control Modules -> Engine -> Readiness...
For MY 2001+ you need 7 of the 8 Readiness codes set to pass. If the MIL is lit, they will fail you just for that.
This goes for VA testing as well.
