ask the inspector if you need to have emissions tested, not sure if you must do that right away or if they put you on a schedule. I know when I bought my car used, they just sent mail to me one day saying that I needed an emissions test.

You need a Safety Inspection done, but only once. They'll mail you emissions notices every 2 yrs.
