I was heading north to Wilmington on 301, cruising in the right lane. There was a car a good ways ahead of me and a few keeping distance behind. I was coming up on an intersection where the cross traffic has a flashing yellow light.

Well, one person made a left heading south on 301, they had enough time to turn, but then some lady (not paying attention) thought the person in front of her going meant there was a green light and preceded to go. Needless to say I was going to hit her, had I not been paying attention. I quickly swerved to the left, barely missing her front end, then tried to bring it back right again, at which point the wheels lost grip, did a good 180 and wound up going backwards down the embankment on the right side of the road.

I thank god I was in the A4 and not my SUV. Not only did it handle it pretty damn well, AWD made driving out of the embankment a snap. And there was no damage; otherwise I would have been super pissed.

Basically I'm just giving a PSA. If you drive up 301, which is a nice drive, watch those intersections. The lady I almost hit said she was lost and thought there was a green light.
