Default Off -Topic - murder in Towson

Just have to say something (not as if I have not said it to my folks and friends all morning). As those in baltimore might have heard, there was a murder in the parking lot of the Towson mall friday night. Was a mid-50's guy with as of yet no apparent cause. The guy was my former teacher, head of my upper school, and was most recently dean of faculty. He was a great person like so many of the teachers at St. Paul's that I was fortunate enough to attend.

What makes it especially eerie for me was that I was leaving the mall at nearly the same time he was actually shot. I had seen Mr. Basset just a day earlier at my gym, and he was his same friendly self. Is saddens me greatly that I will never again be able to speak with him. I feel sorry for his wife, family and the entire St Paul's community. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Thanks for letting me say something......

matt

Default When did you graduate St. Paul's? I finished in 2001, I knew Mr. Bassett pretty well too...

I was shocked when I heard the news, he was such a nice guy, was my college advisor too, and I always had a good conversation with him everytime I went back to visit the school. His son was in the grade below me, and his daughter and my sister are good friends at the girl's school. Horrible news.

BTW, here's another little story from the school site...<ul><li><a href="http://www.stpaulsschool.org/news/news.asp?pageaction=ViewSinglePublic&amp;LinkID=90 3&amp;ModuleID=92">http://www.stpaulsschool.org/news/news.asp?pageaction=ViewSinglePublic&amp;LinkID=90 3&amp;ModuleID=92</a></li></ul>

Default Just saw this on the news this morning

sad to hear indeed....what an awful thing to happen and I feel very bad for his family.

Very strange too...Towson, 8:00 PM, busy night at the mall...very strange that this went down like it did, when it did. Too much to pass off as "one of those terrible things"....like maybe he saw something he shouldn't have.....

I don't know....sad.

Default Glad to hear it

I hope in times like this we can all realize and accept that profiling is a necessary evil.

"<b>He would not say why the motorist found the vehicle out of place</b>, but said he passed the tag number along to a friend who is a police officer after hearing about the murder and it was forwarded to detectives."
