Default Oil change for seasons?

Does anyone here change there oil weight from summer to winter? I'm coming up on another oil change and I have always run Mobile 5w-30 Syn. But a friend of mine that has a 2006 STI and says he uses 5w-30 in the winter than changes to 10w-30 in the summer.... Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
David

Default Check your owner's manual first and foremost

If your owner's manual calls for 0W, 5W, or 10W, then I'd change. I'd run the 0W in winter and a 5W in the summer.

Personally, I run 0W-40 all year long, but my owner's manual calls for that weight too. I don't bother changing it out for summer.

Default We live in a very mild climate zone, so single multi-weight oil will be fine.

I would not consider a different weight oil, unless you lived a region with extreme climate changes.
