pagine Jretal: MIL auto hobby shop tire change cost...
Stopped by Langley AFB auto hobby shop today to inquire about cost of remounting and balancing tires....
Balancing - $9/per employee operate only
re-mounting - $7/per if employee operates, $4/per if self operate.
That's $52 if I operate the tire mounting machine, which I never done. Or $64 if I let them do it. That's one NEW tire for me! For reference, Tires Plus back in SoMD mount/balanced all 4 for me for $40 earlier this yr...
I thought these auto hobby shops are less expensive than that! Do you have idea what the cost over at the ship yard (or what other facility you have access to)?
While I was there talking to the guy working at the shop, he was telling me they get TONS of guys coming in to use the lift/bay to install mods, and their dumpster gets filled w/ perfectly good stock suspension, exhausts (...etc) parts all the time! Mostly Subies & such. Occasional Miatas. Not sure about Audi's...

that's a lot more expensive...
my last tire change cost me ~$16 and an hour and a quarter of my time (I operated all machines)
$3 per tire to remove/reinstall
$5 a wheel to balance IF you use their weights (hammer on). I bring my own stick on, so he doesn't charge me for the use of the machine.
So I spent $12 to mount/balance the tires and $3.75 to rent the bay to jack my car up and take the wheels on and off.
You have to dispose of your own tires though, that's the only catch.

wanna help me with it? :-)
Since I'm not planning being up in DC region any time soon to take advantage of other resources up there...
I'm looking to flip my unidirectional Kumho summer tires in order to wear the other shoulders, as the current shoulders have had 7 track days on them already and starting to look beat up.
We still need to do HH! You around this wkend?

sure man, let me know...
might be tied up on saturday for some boating/fishing with friends, but other than that I *should* be free... unless I get a bug up my a$$ and start tearing apart my master bathroom to tile it :-P
Just give a call. Depending on what the verdict is tonight at class I'd say a tuesday HH might be in order... but that depends on whether this dip$hit of an econ prof I have makes it a take home test (like it was suppose to be) or makes it an inclass test, which will be on tues.
Will be in class tonight, but give a call tomorrow sometime if you want.
