Default iirc, you can drive the car daily w/ historic plates...

you just have to get it registered and inspected iirc. Talked with a guy at the DMV a few years back when I bought the 4000 and we were talking about his old Jeepster that he was registering.

Default unless there's something different than the Antique Vehicle plates

you are not suppose to use them as a daily driver.

Default it was a while ago, so I don't remember 100%

I think that was to allow you to use them more than the limit amount of mileage... but not as a DD. I could be talking out of my a$$ though. I got 3 more years w/ the 4000 until I need to worry about that, so I got time :-P

How can they tell that you're driving it daily anyway?

Default I think they must have changed the law. I can't find any mileage limitation at all.

I will probably use the car about 3,000 miles a year (maybe less). Amazing that I could yank my catalytic converter on a 20 year old car. I'll have to see how my conscience feels about this.

Default You could always call and ask re any mileage limitations.

As for the cat, I'd leave it on unless it dies, then straight-pipe it.

Default only way I can see that happening is if you need to register miles put on the car yearly

with the DMV, but since I don't have an antique quite yet I can't speak from experience

Default Driving through the tolls on the Dulles Toll road during rush hour

can sometimes be a bit of a flag. Honestly, its something that's hard to prove since "trips for routine maintenance" can cover quite a bit. But explaining why you're in business clothes and your briefcase is in the passenger seat wouldn't help.

However, personally I would hope that too many people would see it as a benefit not to abuse just so they can get out of emission and such, otherwise they'll either restrict it more or enforce it harder.

Default If you get collectors insurance they WILL want the mileage every year

along with pictures. I had to submit pictures of the front, back, left side, right side, front angle and rear angle with my policy.
