No ladies and gents, this isn't a tupperware container full of captain, jack, jim, johnny, or jose... it's the coolant from my car!
Started the 180k maintenance on the A4 earlier in the week, and last night I drained the fluids to get a closer look see.
It seems that I have a nice brown mix in my coolant system... but the catch is, there's no oil in there! No cappochino oil and no oily coolant... just this rusty water. Compression on the motor checked out fine and no coolant was leaking into the cylinders after pressurizing the system...
My only thought would be that I have effectively over diluted my coolant w/ water. I have had a slow leak over the past few years where I'd lose just a tiny bit of coolant over time. It never really showed it's ugly head as a serious leak so I just let it be. I'd just add water when necessary. The most loss of coolant was right before VIR last year when I had a tragic loss of my EFK. I ended up tearing the car down in DC in my cousin's apt garage. There was significant coolant loss, and I replaced it with water. I think these events have left me with the diluted solution you see above... basically rusty water from the block.
But the good news is, I think I *might* have found my leak:

maybe? lol. F'in water pumps. It lasted 90k and 5 years at least.
Hopefully I'll get the 'ol girl back on the road by the end of next week. Will be heading to b-more this weekend (I'll wave hi as we pass eachother, tony!) and then to DC monday and tuesday as I have an interview at the DC naval yard tuesday morning. So once I'm back at home, hopefully I'll have all the parts I need and get the 'ol girl back to DD status. The 4000 is a great car and all, but I do miss the comforts of the A4... like A/C and a suspension that doesn't make me feel motion sick on the way to work at 530 in the morning :-P

there was a time where it actually left a drip as well, but I thought it was the thermostat. it stopped doing it, so I left it be and stopped thinking about it.
Hopefully this is the leak, though... as the only other possibility I can think of is the heater core... and after already doing that once, i REALLY don't want to do it again.

Commander's Development Program through Uncle Sam. It's a leadership development program. I made first cut w/ my application, and now I get to interview, which hopefully I won't blow... lol.
It's end goal is to fast track me to SES. Consists of a 2 yr rotational program where I go through about 4 rotations around different departments in NAVSEA.

give me a call. I'll basically have nothing to do monday since that's my "travel day" and I'll already be up there. GF has to go to work, so I'll probably take my time and head down that way.
