Default so I am replacing the shocks on the Eurovan...
and the first one that I took off, I could actually push it in and out with my hands. What does that mean?

Default you should always be able to push in/pull out...just a matter of how much force
is necessary and how quickly they move. The spring do most of the work. The shocks just damping and control the compression and rebound rate

with hands, probably not, which is a good thing...body weight maybe
