they truly exacerbated the inherent understeer in the 911. The system in the 996 (and 993 i *think*) isn't as prone to that. The 964 did have a mechanical set up that might have had a 65/35 split. Most P-car guys that don't hate on the AWD set-up will agree that Porsche got it right in the 996.

i only really notice a difference when things start to get a little hairy. At the end of the day my S4 generally gives in to terminal understeer much like a civic. I can't comment on Evo/WRX type set-ups as i haven't really driven one in anger on the track. ANY car will give you lift off oversteer though doesn't matter which wheels are doing the driving.

however, by getting back on the throttle in *some* situations having power going to the rear wheels combined with the weight transfer can help settle the car quicker than if the car is 100% FWD.

By far the comfiest I've ever sat my fat *** in. Volvo makes damn fine seating. Dunno about side support though.
The S40 T5 AWD looks incredibly nice in the styling department. I had one tailgating me the other day on a back road and it had a very nice front end on it. Definitely not my mom's T50 V70 in terms of aggression. T5's a nice engine, though I'm curious whether or not they're still using a distributor cap (my mom's 98 T5 does).
