Default if you've never been, Tako is a great place for Japanese

very cool atmosphere, excellent sushi and Japanese food...right on Wisconsin avenue too, next to Houston's in Bethesda. KJinDC is throwing some kind of party there tonight starting at 9 as well, if that has any interest to you....another great place that's relatively new (also Chinese and Japanese) is Mei Wah, on Willard Avenue in Chevy Chase (Willard Avenue is across from Clydes in Chevy Chase). Again, very nice atmosphere (they even have outdoor dining if it's open) and superb food...garage parking is available as well for pretty cheap. Another great place in the Chevy Chase/Friendship heights area is Chadwicks, which is a bit more traditional American for their food. Everything is good though, similar to what Clydes serves. Not sure if you've been to any of the three, but they're all great places and pretty accessible from Wisconsin Avenue.
