Default VEIP and Airbag light

My VEIP check is coming up soon, and my passenger seat has a loose connection. The VAG says resistance is too high. The code is cleared and the light goes away for a while, but will come back on after a while (normally after the seat is moved). I can never seem to find the plug under the seat to tape it up or something, plus I procrastinate.

However, I'm concerned that it will not pass the emissions check due to this light. The website says they will not pass it if warning lights are on, but do they mean the AIRBAG light as well?

Can this plug be purchased/replaced? Will the dealer rip me off if I go in there with this light on? I'd like a permanent/safe solution, so if I can just replace the plug somehow, I'd rather do that.

Default iirc, only emission related errors would cause you to fail

and that only applied to the CEL light, not airbag light.

Default Great, thanks for the replies.

Anyone had this problem though? I'd like to try to fix it without going to the dealer, if possible. I heard estimate of $300 from them, seems like it's just a loose plug or something to me.

Default it won't affect your emmissions test, but it *will* fail you with the state safety inspection

Ask me how I know.

Just make sure you get that connection fixed at some point before you're up for inspection next. Take the seat out if you have to, to check for exposed or broken wires, or a broken clip on one of the plugs.
