Default What are some nice towns/neighborhoods within commuting distance to BWI?

I've pretty much decided not to live within the city of Baltimore. For the time being I'm going to be staying in a (ridculously overpriced) apartment in Elkridge, which seems to be kind of a dump in the middle of nowhere. I don't mind the middle of nowhere, I'd just like to find a cheaper/nicer rental (Ideally a townhouse/house). What other areas should I look at that are <30min commute from BWI? Any websites?

See if Induktion will rent you the space above the bathroom as a loft.

Default Eastern shore is within 30 min...if you hurry. Look into Odenton, Crofton, etc. for townhouses.

Or I could rent you my basement (in Annapolis)...when I get it finished. :P Happy hunting.

Default I know you said no city, but did you check out Hampden?

On the north end of town - not far fromt he county. Rents much better than Fed Hill/Canton/Fells and parking is much easier to deal with. Just making a plug for my hood...we coudl use more audis

Default Not in person

I went to Fed. Hill to look at some properties and they sucked. Garbage in the street, disgusting looking neighborhoods always in sight, horrible parking, ridiculous rents. I quickly realized that I'm not a city person, haha. Fun to visit, but not to live, I'll just have to commute in for the audi meets!

Default Hanover and Severn ....

are convienant to 295 and are less expensive, except the new places going up around Arundel Mills mall. Odenton and Crofton are nice but pricer due higher incomes and the number of newer homes. Piney Orchard would provide a lot of town homes. I have been in all four towns over the last 15+ years, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Check Catonsville as well. Easy commute down 195 to BWI, some nice houses.

Default apartments.com, apartmentratings.com etc. I guess craigslist is the best for townhouses.

Although I don't know what kind of house you're going to find for under 1500 a month. I don't really like any of the towns around there. Annapolis is really the only nice town around there outside of Baltimore.
