My ebay USB cable works perfectly.
I do own a licensed copy of Vag-Com, and bought a serial cable from Vag-Com when I bought my car. However, laptops these days don't have serial ports (at least mine doesn't). So, I bought the eBay USB Vag-Com cable.
It was necessary to fiddle with the driver and the USB --) Serial converter that came with the cable. However, once I got it to work, it has worked perfectly. As a caveat, these cables work with B5s, C5s and I think B6s. I don't believe the cable works with B7s or C6s and other newer VAG models, as I think it is necessary to use an older version of the software with this cable.

can you give me a link to the one you bought. it may be overkill, but i'd prefer to get it from the
same seller. my last one was a ebay one, and it is more likely my fault, but it is now broken. do you have a link?

I searched, but can't find any emails or other indicating who I bought it from.
<center><img src="http://i12.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/55/19/3f_1.JPG"></center><p>I got it about 1.5 years ago. Attached is a picture of exactly what I bought. It was a mini CD with the driver, and a clear blue plastic plug, with a bright blue wire.
