Default Would be interesting. Takes years to do unfortunately...

Luckily, there is Summit Point close by. They have 3 tracks within their facilities. Also, 2 new tracks re on the drawing boards. One in southern New Jersey and one in between Richmond and VA beach off of 64. I think the one in Jersey is much farther along and closer to reality.

I can't imagine building a track when getting seat time at any of the tracks in the mid atlantic, and there are quite a few, isn't that hard. Maybe I just don't have enough money. ;-P

In the end though, I'm up for any new tracks!

Default ACNA already does that. In WVA at Summit, in NYC at Watkins Glen, in VA at VIR...

...in Ohio at Mid Ohio, and in Pennsylvania at BeaveRun. That's just the local list. there are other ACNA sponsored events all around. Unfortunately the local Audi crowd seems more into spirited driving and drag racing than track stuff. At the same time, that track stuff isn't cheap.

Default The expense is one of the things that has kept me out of racing so far.

I have heard of people going through a set of tires after a few laps at the track. If I could go right down the road and race I don't think I could resist.

Default Nah, unless you're running slicks, tires last much longer...

The expenses do add up, but not quite that fast. I ran my S4 at the track probably 10-12 times and used the same tires on the street for over a year. I wasn't exactly slow either.

Your 1st time out on the track and it's unlikely that you'll be setting any lap records. You don't really start to be hard on your equipment until you get some experience and get faster.

There's also a HUGE difference between driving on the track at a DE (Driver Education, like what ACNA offers) or club event versus racing. Racing is a whole different animal and that mind set isn't even welcome at a DE. Yes, you're on a race track but there isn't an opportunity to pass anywhere, there isn't car to car contact, you're given an instructor to help you learn. Racing is every man, woman, and child for him/herself and God save anyone who gets in the way. :-P
