Hi People,
Yesterday I bought a 1987 Quattro CS in near perfect condition with 61k original miles on it. The interior looks brand new as does the exterior. Paid $1100 at an auction. The car runs like a dream so far. Questions:
Should I count on this car for long trips (3-4 hour drives, I travel a lot)?
Besides changing the oil regularly, what else should I do for maintenance?
Any idea what this car sold for in 1987 (new) and what it is worth street price today?
Thanks all!!
John

Great price,
Great car, fine for trips. I would just go ahead an replace the cap/rotor/plugs/wires and ALL the fluids. Please don't neglect the fluids or you will be out a bundle. For 400 bucks of shop time you can have a reliable car.

You didn't say if it was a 4000 or a 5000 but..
According to Kelly Blue Book(depending on area):
4000 CS Q ~ $3,000
5000 CS Q ~ $5,000
New price would have been around $20,000, a little less if 4000 a little more if 5000!!
The little regular maintanence that Erik mentioned will give you a very reliable car!!
Have fun!!

but for the little bugs that would crop up. The window switches, the climate control, the master brake cylinder, the rubber hoses under the hood. Nothing fatal, but just one little pain-in-the-*** after another. But I absolutely loved the car. The manners it displayed in foul weather were incredible.Cruise at 80 all day and repeatedly give back 28-35 mpg!The one problem you need to address is to replace ALL the rubber hoses under the hood as ANY leak in the induction vacuum system willNOT allow the car to start. GOOD LUCK.
