Default 1989 Audi 100 Headlight assembly

Hi all.

This car uses 3 screws to attach the headlights to the car body. Some of mine are broken, and the result is the headlights don't sit properly. I went to a auto parts shop and they said the screws are part of the headlights assembly and I have to buy new headlights. Is this true? Or can I buy the screws separately? Thanks very much.

The headlights on the 5000/100 are attached to the headlight frame with three funky white screw/adjuster mechanisms. These wear out very easily, I seen many 5K's with this problem. The adjusters are about seven bucks apiece from the Audi parts counter, and are VERY difficult to replace. You could try this, but it's very hard to get them in. After totally destroying a new one that I bought, I made a homemade nut-bolt-washer replacement, and it worked, but required constant tightening. You can take out the entire headlight and headlight frame by removing the two yellow hex screws on top and two phillips screws underneath behind the chrome bumper trim. This is a much easier fix, but also a more expensive one. A 5000/100 headlight from a junkyard should run around 25-50 bucks. Good luck!
