I currently own an 1990 Audi 100 and would like to purchase a used Quattro V8. However, I like to do a little research before purchasing a car. It would be nice if anyone who has information regaurding the 1990-1994 Audi V8 Quattro would e-mail me, or if anyone knows of a web link, that would be helpful as well. I am mainly looking for technical specifications as well as owner reviews.
Thank you,

I recently traded my 90 V8Q for an S4. The V8 was a wonderfull touring car, very comfortable, but not particularly fast or good handling. I purchased it used with 20k and maintainted it meticulesly, never a problem, but I have heard HORROR stories from others. Parts are terrribly expensive and technicians that can confidently be left with the car are rare. There used to be a V8Q list which I am theoretically subscribed to but there has been no traffic for the past several months. Dave Head who posts here may be able to provide more info. Typical problem areas have been reported to be brakes, auto trans, Bose speakers. The oem UFO brakes on my car were replaced under warrenty at 24k with Girling G60's which performed adaquately, the trans is the same ZF used by BMW in their larger cars so I don't understand why there appears to have been so much trouble with it( I never had any), the Bose stereo "SUCKS" and IS prone to self destruction which has included fires. Good Luck!

Like you, I have a 90 V8. I am also considering an S4 seriously. I would like an A6 avant with the 2.7T in it or a really clean post 95 S6 Avant.
My V8 has 110K on it. I really like the car. I have had two other Quattros and am a complete fan. I am only sorry that Audi is not more supportive of the V8 (see me earlier note....) Its a really nice car, but its this low level rumble about cost and support that concern me. I will likely trade mine.

I am a very good customer of my local dealer, I purchased my V8 and a 92 S4 there as well as my 2 previous Q cars 88 90 and 86 4000CS. They were exremely reluctant to take my 75K V8 in trade even though they have done all work since day 1. This tells me a lot about whats been going on in the background. I came very close to switching to another brand untill they came up with an offer I couldn't refuse. I really went in to buy an A6 4.2 but the S4 is such a kick *** car I could't resist. The ur S4, V8 and A6 4.2/2.7tt are probably better touring cars(more room, cushier ride) but for most of my driving the S4 2.tt is GREAT!!!

Hi, Just purchased a 90 V8Q (see recent post) and have been going through verbal archaeology!
You mentioned that the bimmer tranny is similar. Can they actually be switched out, and what about getting a newer year into the older car?
J
thanks
